Working under the moniker Model Staggs, Tom Miller and Ash Allerton make homespun recordings out of a make-shift cabin studio located in the Essex countryside. The songwriting duo began collaborating around 2011, shortly after meeting at a local gig spot in Cambridge and discovering their shared taste in quirky, melodic indie music and admiration for deep thinking bands such as Grizzly Bear, Radiohead and The National. Keen to write and record their own music, the two began developing their sound in an old upholstery factory. Eventually, the pair constructed a ramshackle recording space of their own, in which to record a full debut album.
